Course Overview

This course is designed to teach Six Sigma fundamentals and its application. It is intended for full time improvement team project leaders. Participants are trained and tested on their understanding and ability to apply the tools and techniques of all elements of the Six Sigma methodology.

The course contains the following:

75+ Hours of Course Work (Six Sigma tools and techniques, advanced statistics, project management, change management, etc.)
26 Lessons
50 Sections (subsets of the lessons)
95 Exercises (to practice and apply key concepts and tools learned)
195 Quiz Questions (to test learner skills all throughout training)
Simco International Products - Project Simulation: The simulation is based on a hypothetical service/transactional company that faces many of the same problems companies are dealing with today. The simulation is designed to illustrate the entire business improvement effort through every phase of the Six Sigma DMAIC methodology. Individuals complete challenging exercises which build on previously learned tools and concepts taught in training. When complete, practitioners have a significant perspective on what true business improvement means and a tangible “project story” that they can utilize throughout their process improvement efforts. There is no comparison of this simulation in the marketplace today.
Six Sigma Toolkit: this toolkit assists practitioners in keeping focused on their project work and not creating “templates”. The Toolkit includes common templates used throughout the Six Sigma DMAIC phases. For ease of use, the templates can be downloaded directly to your computer. The templates are developed in common formats (MS Word, MS Excel or MS PowerPoint). Acuity Institute’s Six Sigma for Black Belts Certification Exam is the standard for Black Belt Certification. Many companies strive for quality and what better way to show your commitment then to achieve Six Sigma Exam Certification. Six Sigma Exam Certification can lead to a competitive advantage in the marketplace and can increase your salary and career opportunities. The following highlights the Six Sigma for Black Belts Certification Exam.

The exam is administered online. Examinees will need to have an active internet connection to complete the exam.
The exam is open book. Examinees may use any reference materials to complete the exam (i.e. training manuals, project materials, statistics books, etc.).
While completing the exam, examinees are not permitted to communicate with anyone regarding the exam. The exam is closed communication.
It is strongly recommended that examinees use a statistical analysis software application to complete some of the exam questions.
The exam is made up of 134 multiple choice, true/false, and problem solving questions. The highest possible score for the exam is 134 points.
A passing grade of 80% or more is needed to become Six Sigma for Black Belts Exam Certified.
Examinees have a maximum of 5 consecutive hours (300 minutes) to complete the exam.
Once examinees complete the entire exam they will be notified immediately if they passed the exam. Examinees will not have access to their answers. This information is keep confidential to Acuity Institute.

The Six Sigma Black Belt Certification Exam is included in all 3 certification packages (Basic, Standard and Advanced). Individuals will have 1 attempt to successfully pass the exam. By passing the exam, you will achieve Acuity Institute’s Six Sigma for Black Belts Exam Certification. At this time you will receive a copy of your Six Sigma for Black Belts Exam Certification for your records. If you do not pass the exam, you will be charged a fee of $100 if you choose to retake the exam.

Simulated Project Certification back to top

Acuity Institute leverages the world class Simco International Project for Simulated Project Certification. At Acuity Institute we recognize that not every individual has the opportunity to complete an actual Six Sigma project while completing their online training, this is why we offer Simulated Project Certification. We are the only Six Sigma Training and Certification organization to offer Simulated Project Certification with the robust Simco International Project.

While completing training, individuals will be required to complete project deliverables, develop project tollgate presentations, and answer questions from Master Black Belts about their simulated project results. Upon completion of the project you will submit the required documentation for Simulated Project Certification. The submitted project will be reviewed by our panel of expert Six Sigma Master Black Belts. The project must meet Acuity Institute’s Simulated Project Certification requirements and be completed during the 12 month online training timeframe. There is no guarantee of Simulated Project Certification.

Acuity Institute’s Simulated Project Certification provides the opportunity to manage a Six Sigma project in a simulated environment. There is no comparison of this certification in the marketplace today. The Simulated Project Certification is included in the Standard and Advanced Six Sigma for Black Belts certification packages.

Acuity Institute’s Project Certification provides you with the opportunity to demonstrate your Six Sigma expertise by completing a Six Sigma Black Belt project in your organization. Upon completion of your project you will submit the required documentation for Project Certification. The submitted project will be reviewed by our panel of expert Six Sigma Master Black Belts. The project must meet Acuity Institute’s Black Belt Project Certification requirements and be completed during the 12 month online training timeframe. There is no guarantee of Project Certification.

Project Certification is included in the Advanced Six Sigma for Black Belts Certification Package. Project Certification combined with Simulated Project Certification and Black Belt Certification Exam is the most complete and robust Black Belt Certification available.

The optimal completion of a Six Sigma Black Belt project requires not only comprehensive academic instruction, but also mentoring and coaching by experienced professionals. Acuity’s Six Sigma coaching methods are utilized to help ensure the Black Belts process improvement efforts are achieved. It has been our experience that the success of the Black Belt is directly related to the support and coaching the individual receives throughout their project. This hands-on mentoring is critical to reinforce the concepts taught during training. This service has been invaluable to our clients because of the breadth and depth of our Master Black Belts experience.

Our coaching provides expertise in areas such as applying tools and techniques in process improvement methodologies, communication with organization leadership and stakeholders, overcoming barriers to success, process improvement implementation, process management, developing fact based management techniques, and maintaining process improvement gains and proper documentation.

The Personal Master Black Belt Coach will meet with the Black Belt bi-weekly over the phone and/or via net meetings (i.e. GoToMeeting). In addition, the Black Belt can submit unlimited questions via email to their Personal Master Black Belt coach.
